Obama Scolds G.O.P. Critics of Iran Policy

Many G.O.P's have been criticizing Obama over his Iran policy because they see it as not aggressive enough. The Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, called for Congress to authorize the use of force against Iran. Obama rebuked by saying that "Those folks don’t have a lot of responsibilities, they’re not commander in chief. When I see the casualness with which some of these folks talk about war, I’m reminded of the costs involved in war” — for those who go into combat, for national security and for the economy. “This is not a game,” he added. “And there’s nothing casual about it.”Obama is calling for a diplomatic solution and the US is currently adding sanctions to squeeze Iran's oil industry and and their Central Bank in hope that Iran will soon be willing to negotiate.

Romney wins 6 states, fails to blunt Santorum's conservative support

Romney has a strong showing over the past couple days as he wins 6 more key states to win the Republican nomination. However, he did not get enough to solidify his place, as Gingrich won Georgia, and Santorum gained three states in Oklahoma, Tennessee, and North Dakota. This race is still close, and accorking to CNN Romney has accumulated 404 delegates to Santorum's 165. Gingrich has accumulated 106, and Paul rounds out with 66. It takes 1,144 delegates to win the GOP nomination, however. It is anyone's race at this point, but if Romney can continue to secure the majority of the votes, he may just have it in the bag.

When did teacher bashing become the new national pastime?

This article talks about how in New York City they are testing the teachers in two exams, the reading comprehension and math skills, and with these results they are grading the teacher as good or bad. The author of the article points out that this is a very bad evaluation, and it is oversimplifying the teaching capabilities of these New York teachers. Instead he proposes that they should take another test that is more complete made by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standarts that test in five core standarts that outline the knowledge, skills, dispositions, and beliefs of higly selective teachers. With this accurate information parents can now decide to enroll their children in whatever school they desire, based on good results instead of simplified numbers.

President Obama's claims that America "has Israel's back" in regards to the possibility that Iran possesses nuclear weapons. Having entered into office with two wars on his plate, President Obama is careful not to start another war that is "wrapped up in politics". While some Republicans are calling for Congress to authorize the use of "force against Iran", President Obama cautions agains engaging in premature military action against Iran. This anti-war stance is what helped President Obama beat out his fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton who voted for the U.S to go to war against Iraq.
