New Bill: "One Subject At A Time Act"

Congress has come up with the plans for a new bill called the "One Subject At A Time Act." The name is self explanatory because if the bill passes, Congress will not be allowed to include more than one subject at a time in a bill. This will allow Congress to focus on one goal for each bill at hand and to make clearer the purposes of newly created bills to lessen confusion. However it is possible that this could damage the process in ways unseen as of yet. First, we have to see if the bill will even pass.

Mitt Romney's Florida Primary Victory Speech Bashes Obama

Speaking about the Florida Primary, Governor Mitt Romney enthusiastically claims "a competitive primary does not divide us, it prepares us and we will win". Soon afterwards Romney's speech shifted focus and began bashing President Obama's administration. Romney claims that when he is president he will end the "Obama era" and "begin a new era of prosperity". Romney's bashing of Obama included a criticism of Obama's view of a free economy, which Romney claims is "to send your money to his friends". In the midst of all the Obama bashing, Romney highlights what he intends to do if elected president. Romney's vison for  our free economy is to "return entrepreneurship and the genius and creativity to the American people." Romney also clarified his stance on America's foreign prescence by expressing his desire for a "military so powerful no one will ever think of challenging it."

    Stefano: Obama Promotion

This is the story of the woman who inspired President Obama to pass the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (the first bill Obama passed in office). Her story is about how she was unfairly payed during her 17 years working for Goodyear. This bill was passed early 2009, but was recently resurrected and advertised. President Obama seems to be using this incident as a way to promote himself. In my opinion, the video comes across as somewhat unauthentic. The story itself is quite genuine until the end when the woman says that she thinks that Obama should be re-elected to finish what he started.

Weekly Address: President's Blueprint Includes Renewal of American Values

Obama is promoting himself through Youtube trying to spread his ideas across. However, within these appraisals, he calls out a senator saying how he is slowing down the process of passing bills. He makes it seem common sense to side with him by saying that Americans don’t deserve to wait, and that people shouldn’t be able to slow down the bills. He brings up a proposal of having a voting system in which you are for or against the bill within 90 days. However, he does not mention the importance of the filibuster, or even mention the name of it so that people can learn about it themselves. This is one of his many ways to try and make “change” for better or for worse, and to try and promote himself for reelection.

Few Cities Have Regained Jobs They Lost, Report Finds

Since the start of the recession in 2008, only 26 of the nation’s 363 metropolitan areas had recovered their lost jobs by the end of 2011, and only 26 more are projected to recover them by end of this year. Mayors from the metropolitan centers are blaming congress for the slow recovery. So far, Houston has returned to it only pre-recession economy. The good news is that most cities are expected to bounce back by 2015 and the Miami area around 2014.
