On February 10, 2017 at 1:30 pm was the start of the Florida State Semifinals for boys soccer. Palmer Trinity School let classes out early to come and support their falcons take on Lakeland Christian. You can feel the excitement of the fans as the game gets closer to kick-off. The players have prepared all week to get to this moment and they are expected to do their best.

The game starts and so far, it looked like LCS was the better team with their fluency and execution. Palmer looked a step slow in the opening minutes but their energy was definitely there. In about ten minutes of play, out of nowhere, Lakeland Christian’s Taylor Morton scored a goal which sent anxiety towards the Palmer fans. LCS suddenly gained a ton of momentum and they were holding a 1-0 lead going into the closing minutes of the first half.

The second half is underway and Palmer continues to grind and fight. Then, Palmer’s Nicholas Rey scores a miraculous shot off, a deflection to tie the game at 1 a piece. The Palmer fans went ballistic, jumping out of their seats like madmen. Not even five minutes following the goal by Rey was another goal made by Morton. LCS suddenly sucked out the energy from the fans and left them silent. For the remainder of the game, Palmer had countless opportunities to score but LCS’s goalkeeper played a terrific game.

In the end, the semi finals game went in the favor of Lakeland Christian. They stunned Palmer Trinity 2-1 on their home field. LCS did an amazing job and Palmer’s season unfortunately came to an end. It was one of Palmer’s best high school boys soccer team of all time. Congratulations to one hell of a year!
