Using Social Media Responsibly: An Interview With Lori Smith, Esq.

    By: PHILIP MCMICHAEL '16
    PTS Falconer Editor-in-Chief

On Tuesday, February 9th, Lori Smith, Esq., spoke with Palmer Trinity students, teachers, and parents about the dangers of social media and what students can do to negate the risks involved with the modern day nature of the online world. Ms. Smith is a graduate of The University of Florida School of Law, and represents independent high schools in social media related cases. Her knowledge on the often unclear and fast-changing topic of social media allows her to consult with schools in the creating of social media policies that make sense for all parties involved. I had the chance to speak more in-depth with Lori on a few broad topics that the casual social media user might worry about. As an expert in the field, Ms. Smith can explain more complex concepts in simplified ways that everyone who uses social media should pay attention to.
